Painting Perfect

Today, at about 5 I noticed the sky. It was a grayish blue. Then I noticed the setting sun reflecting on some clouds. I was like,"wow, look at that!" Then I looked down just a little bit and the sky was a peachy pink color. Oh, and the transition between the two colors... they looked as natural as a light blue going into a blue, instead of a pink into a blue. There were no colors in between, it was just grayish blue then peachy pink.  I looked down more and saw trees. Black trees. The darkest green you could ever get without it being black. Then a house, also black. See it? See the real painting? Then I though, "a painting like this happens every day,or even multiple times a day, but how many people actually look at it, and see it as it actually is?"

Grapefruit?

Why is grapefruit called grapefruit? I mean grapefruit isn't the size of a grape, it doesn't look like a grape, and it taste nothing like a grape. Oh, english language, why do you have to be so confusing.

Natually Sparkly

I never knew that in Nature there would be things like a Monarch's chrysalis. I was just looking at one and was shocked to see that there were small sparkles on the outside. As I looked at more, all of the chrysalises had sparkles on them.A light green cocoon with sparkles on it. It was beautiful. I was yet again amazed by the things Mother Nature has in store for us if we just take the time to look and observe.

Anyone really CAN make MUSIC

Really, I'm not kidding. Everybody can make music on this website:

http://www.inudge.net/index.en.html

I know it sounds like I am advertising for it, but you don't need to buy anything, I promise... or at least I didn't. But, really, on that website, anything you put would probably sound good. Once I put a smiley face, star, heart, and a peace sign and it STILL sounded good. Just try it and see for yourself.

Real Child Prodigy-Art

I just got on the internet when I saw Yahoo had a article about a child art prodigy. No offense to Yahoo, but I don't exactly trust the articles. Natrually I was still curious so I searched on Youtube a 6 or 7 year old guy called Kieron Willamson. This is a video that came up...

Know?

Just a day ago I realized that know is spelled well, know. Not that I didn't know how to spell know, but that know has both a silent k and w. I thought shouldn't it just be spelled kno? Then there would only be a silent k... maybe they wanted to make the word prettier and more complete? But, would it have looked prettier or more complete so many years ago when they made our language? I guess I kinda understand why English is one of the hardest languages to learn now...

If a tree falls in a wood with no one to hear it, will it still make a sound?

This is a pretty well known question that makes you think. In my opinon the tree would make a sound even if there is nobody to hear it. It's like the in the Big Bang. Most people think the Big Bang was silent because they think there is no sound in space. However, there is sound in space because space is not a perfect vacuum. Although it is a bigger and more perfect vacuum than we could ever make here on earth, it is not perfect because it has a thing called plasma. The Big Bang was actually very very loud , but also very very deep. So deep our human ears cannot and would not be able to hear it unless it was raised 50 octaves, which is exactly what astronomer Mark Whittle did. You can now listen to the 100 million year Big Bang in 10 seconds. But, in the 100 million years the Big Bang was happening, no one was there to hear it... Well, at least no one we know that exists right now... so when a tree falls and no one is there to hear it, why shouldn't it make a sound?

Pounds and lbs?

I never understood why the shortened version of pounds was lbs. Like, why didn't people make it pnd, or pd, or something closer to pound?

Yes or What?

"Is this thing cool or what?"
Have you ever heard someone say something like this? How did you respond? Yes... or What? That is what is so interesting about this question. Usually you find tons of Yes or No questions, but what about yes or what questions. What if your friend asked you that question and you didn't find it cool at all. Then you would just say "what." This is how the conversation might go.

"Is this thing cool or what?"
"what"
"I said Is this thin..."
"I heard you"
"oh"

So... Is this kinda interesting or what?

The Octopus?

There is suppose to be this amazing octopus that predicts the winner of the world cup games, but could it be that this octopus is actually really the cause of the winner? I think this octopus thing could all be explained by psychology. The players the octopus picks would become confident, and the other team then thinks "oh no... it is going to be so hard to win this time." and does worse. So... no offense octopus :)

Sensitive Tastes?

People say kid's taste buds are more sensitive than grown-ups. If that is true, then why is it that grown-ups are more sensitive to sweets?

Yes or No

When I was a little kid, questions like "so you don't want this?" used to confuse me. Should I say yes or no? I usually replied "yes," meaning yes, you are correct, I don't want it, but you are suppose to say no meaning no, I do not want it.

Carbon?

Everybody knows that we are in a huge environmental crisis about there being too much carbon dioxide in the air. One way scientists are trying to solve this problem is by changing the carbon dioxide into a different more helpful substance. One way is to change carbon dioxide into oxygen, but then you would have way too many carbon molecules. So, my question is what are carbon molecules used for? If we can find out something which a lot of carbon is used, all we need to do is separate the carbon molecule from the two oxygen molecules and then we have a solution.

How do Subway/Metro cards work?

Well, this is my first question for the public. How do those Subway/Metro cards work? I mean they are just flat bits of plastic. How do those machines that scan your card know it is right card and not some other fake card?

The Sense of Uncommon Nonsense

My sister's dorm at college in her freshmen year had a little carving above the fireplace. This is what it said "The room of un common non sense," the same as the title of this blog. My blog is going to be about little random things like uncommon nonsense. I hope you enjoy these little insights of my life.
